  March 14 is celebrated as Pi Day in honor of the mathematical constant pi, and it also happens to be the birthday of famous physicist Albert Einstein. However, there is no evidence that Einstein ever made jokes about the coincidence. In fact, Einstein's life was much more than just his scientific contributions. In celebration of Pi Day, here are five fun facts about this national holiday founded in 1988: Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 because the first three digits of pi are 3.14. Pi is an irrational number, which means it cannot be expressed as a simple fraction. Pi has been calculated to over a trillion digits beyond its decimal point, but for most calculations, just 3.14 or 22/7 is enough. The Guinness World Record for the most digits of pi memorized is held by Rajveer Meena of India who recited 70,000 digits in 2015.
